Hello…. people of the internet?

I know, I know. I missed last week. Even though the readership of this blog is considerably small, I still feel annoyed with myself if I don’t post every single Tuesday (I’ve only missed twice). However, not only was last week insane, but I also had no clue what to wear. Since I’m at home, my closet is mostly full of all my “rejects” that I didn’t take to the UK (meaning pieces that I think are hideous or too small).

Instead of completely writing off these items, I decided that this week, I’d give one reject a new life. The dress. Although it may look like a slightly oversized blouse, its actually a dress that’s far too short. Funny enough, I always discover that a dress is too short at the most inopportune times. Parties, windy days, dinners at grandma’s. The list goes on.

Thankfully, this Urban Outfitters dress is no ordinary dress. Button front anything means that it can be worn like a cardigan or an unbuttoned shirt. I paired it with these loose fit trousers to keep everything chilled, and the crop-top makes the layering look effortless and not awkward (like this sentence). Cropped things are convenient because they decrease fabric weight & allow you to wear more all at once.

As for the trainers, I’m still rocking the Vince slip-ons. They only leave my feet when I go to bed. Or take a shower. No lie.

P.S: I LOVE PARKING GARAGES AS YOU CAN TELL .

Be sure to let me know how you repurpose your “rejects”. See you next week! ❤

Sweden Pt. 1

Hello friends!

Thanks for the patience — I haven’t been on my “A Game” thanks to a sand dune induced case of whiplash (think concussion symptoms without the concussion. And feeling like you sprained your ankle, but in your neck). If anything, this experience has made me grateful for my health, youth, and all the work my body does 24/7 that I don’t even think about.

Now that I feel much better, I packed my bags and flew to Sweden. First stop? the MoMa of course. I’m currently taking modern art in art history, and my aim is to appreciate it more. Based on my fascination with the gigantic spider, I think my visit worked. (The museum is wonderful!!!!).

For this outfit, I decided that I was going to freeze for fun. Its my Canadian blood. I layered a teeshirt over my DVF dress and I am completely obsessed. As if this dress wasn’t amazing & versatile enough on its own. With the pop of red, I feel like a lady (thanks MAC Lady Danger for matching my Nikes).

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Comment below if you’ve ever been to Sweden, or have MoMa recommendations. I’m on the hunt for more :).

Spring Break: Dubai Burj Khalifa

Hello friends!

I’ve been having a wonderful time in Dubai for the last few days. It’s my first time, and it has been…. interesting. Although I’m not exactly one to cover up in hot weather, I managed thanks to some strategic H&M. I think there’s something really cool about the contrast of light, airy layers against chunky boy shoes.

Besides the fashion, The food is also STELLAR! Back in the UK, I get made fun of profusely for eating dates all the time. Over here, there are boutiques that sell dates — and they’re delicious. I also went to a buffet today which featured only foods from the Middle East. I was in heaven.

After the massive buffet lunch, we headed to the Burj Khalifa, where these pictures were taken. I love the futuristic architecture in Dubai, the Burj Khalifa being a prime example. They also gave us more dates at the top. I can’t complain.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, and comment below if you’ve ever been to Dubai (or love dates as much as I do)!

What I Wear: Movie Theatre Layering #trainersontuesday

Hello friends!

I hope you are all well! Personally, 2015 has been going splendidly (despite posting rather irregularly on here, which makes me sad). I’ve been spending all of my time riding, working out, watching hockey (World Juniors anyone?) and applying for jobs. On NYE, I went to an underground deep house party — great way to start the year.

Since I’m about to see a film tonight, I figured I’d dress up, instead of rocking riding gear 99% of the time. We’re going to see the The Theory of Everything , a film about physicist Stephen Hawking. The film is supposed to be amazing — Eddie Redmayne (Burberry model/ Les Mis star) being reason enough to see it.

To stay comfy at the movie theatre, I’m  opting for my favourite Converse! These Converse are quite old, but their metallic fabric has only improved with age.Although a metallic shoe may seem ill-fitting for this look, the metallic texture coordinates with the silver accents on the clutch and the scarf.

For trousers, loose styles are intimidating, but ultimately fool proof. The trousers fall perfectly to cover the upper of the high top, and the high tops themselves prevent any awkward ankle exposure. Additionally, the slim fit of the Converse allow the trousers to fall properly, whereas wider high tops would appear awkward.

To keep warm in the movie theatre, I’ll most likely layer a burgundy hoodie underneath the leather jacket. If crop tops aren’t your style, a baggy tee tucked into these trousers would be equally cool! The key = layers, layers, layers & tailored yet comfortable pieces. Done.

Side note/ advice from a Canadian: If its snowing where you live, opt for flatforms. Flatforms are not only super hip, but they will also prevent your trousers from dragging in the snow. I’m currently coveting these flatforms.

Have you seen The Theory of Everything? What do you wear to the movies? Be sure to comment below. See you Friday (hopefully…hehe).

Update: Film was amazing! Highly recommend!!!

What I Wear: Travelling

Uncategorized September 7, 2014

IMG_4792IMG_4810IMG_4811IMG_4806IMG_4803IMG_4802To say that I’ve been absent from the blog-overse would be quite an understatement. After uploading my last post, I began the arduous task that is packing for uni. A few days later, I jetted off to Scotland to commence my second year of university. Upon arrival, I unpacked and attempted to reassemble my life in my new flat. Now that most of my work is done, I am so excited to be writing a post!

Considering all of the travelling I’ve been doing, this travel related post is quite fitting. When on the plane, I prefer to wear minimal jewellery, lots of layers and texture. These three features not only make my plane journey more comfortable, but they also make airport security 100X easier. Instead of jewellery, I opted for comfortable gold chain slip ons (a travel must), and a studded Adidas hoodie. These two items suit the edgy nature of the look, and jazz up what would usually be seen as your run of the mill airport outfit. When I’m at airport security, once the hoodie and shoes come off, I’m wearing a blank tank top and pants (which lessens the odds of beeping through the metal detector).

Pant wise, I am of the controversial opinion that wearing leggings as pants is ONLY okay in two places: 1. the gym 2. the airport. Since I was at the airport, I chose compression leggings, which are comfortable without being unflattering. If your flight is under 4 hours, wearing normal stretch jeans is sufficient as well (Genetic denim or Topshop jeans are AMAZING <3).
