White on White

Hello there…

As I write this post, I’m mourning the loss of a white teeshirt to an apricot / pickle juice stain. Its in the wash. Hopefully it recovers.

How is this relevant — you ask?

Lately, I’ve been obsessed with wearing all white everything. There’s something very unattainable about white clothing. When I bought these Acne trainers last March, the fact that they were designer made them unattainable enough. Add in white leather and I was basically in heaven. Problem? Turns out, wearing shoes makes them dirty overtime. Being a young adult who’s pretty lazy with garment maintenance (I wear hoodies 99% of the time), my mom gave me a talking to. Turns out, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser makes white shoes look like new. Just remember to wash the laces separately. Still haven’t done that yet….

On a different note, this Asmar bamboo tee has been an essential during this heat wave. Keeps the sun burns at bay — plus its crazy soft and just thick enough to not be see through.

Let me know what your favourite white pieces are in the comments! See you next week <3.

I’m Home

Hello friends,

I’m finally home! Since I’m back in Canada, I decided to detach myself from my computer and *gasp* go outside. I unearthed my Diamond board and cruised down manicured paths near a friend’s place. While skating around, I took some shots.

It’s really nice to be back on the west coast. Everyone is so laid back, and I feel a lot more free and casual. However, my penchant for layering was challenged by the Canadian heat. Turns out pleather pants aren’t breathable. At all.

As for the rest of my outfit, I’m particularly in love with the flowered shoe bag that I used as a purse. I tied a cube necklace to it, and I love how it turned out. Purses are a pain to skate around with.

Although I won’t have time to skate too much next week, lots of exciting stuff will be happening! I’ll be starting my summer job, and getting back to boxing and riding.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s post! Be sure to let me know where you’re from in the comments <3.

Sweden Pt. 2

Jacket: Wesc Concept / Denim Shirt: Madewell / Tee: Cos / Necklace: Brady Melville / Trainers: Acne Studios / Purse: Phillip Lim

Hello friends!

As I write this post, I am no longer in Sweden. From the abundance of attractive men (go to any Joe and the Juice in Stockholm and you’ll understand), to the AMAZING shopping and food, I honestly didn’t want to leave. Although I spent most of the trip eating and checking out museums, I obviously made time for some Swedish shopping. First stop? Acne Studios. Naturally, I couldn’t resist these trainers. At first I thought they were quite strange, but they’re almost an art piece unto themselves. I also did some damage at Wesc, Galagowear, and Cos — I’m hooked.

Although I’m not exactly a Swedish minimalist, I love their enthusiasm for street wear and geometry (which is rather lacking in this preppy Scottish place). Since I bought  more than the jacket, shoes and tee, keep an eye out for more Swedish things in future posts.

Comment Below: What are your favourite Swedish brands? Any recommendations?

Hello friends!
As my first week of school comes to a close, I’ve restarted an old habit of mine. Procrasti-vogueing. What is this? Great question. Its when you have work that you should do, but instead opt for reading Vogue till 2am wrapped in three blankets, wishing you were at home because heating actually works there #studentlife.
Although procrast-vogueing may sound inherently unproductive, last night’s session inspired today’s post. After seeing Alexa Chung rocking boyfriend jeans, for the first time, I thought they would be worth a shot. Never thought I’d admit this.
Boyfriend jeans. I’m pretty sure that 95% of their appeal is an apparent impossibility to style. How does one (unless you weigh under 80 pounds, or are Katie Holmes), still look cute in baggy, often ripped, ill-fitting jeans? While most fashion magazines would preach wearing 6-inch oppressive heels, I find such an approach hypocritical. What’s the point of wearing jeans that are comfortable — if your feet need to be oppressed to wear them?
Enter: slip-ons. I love these: they aren’t too weighty (like hightops), yet they’re still fun — without distracting from the jeans, or making the leg look stocky. Paired with classic pieces, the boyfriend jeans look more edgy than sloppy, and the accessories prevent me from looking like a 12-year-old boy on civvies day at Eaton.
I know that this look is boyish, but that’s the wonderful thing about hair and makeup. With curly hair and girly but simple makeup, this look is more edgy than cross dresser (not that cross dressing is bad– who needs gender stereotypes anyways)?
I find that most girls have an illogical paranoia of “looking like a lesbian.” If there’s anything I’ve learned in life, its that someone will always think you look stupid. I have always found that confidence (and knowing that you like boys), is usually enough to shush the haters. Wear what you want and forget the rest.
Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post! I’m signing off — see you on Tuesday <3.
