I discovered one of the most versatile pieces in my closet on the Brooks Brothers sale rack in Toronto last summer–a floaty, simple black dress. Although the LBD is a wardrobe essential cliche, once bought, I realized that this LBD was far from ordinary. It’s light material takes up little to no space in a suitcase. Instead of chafing and encasing curves, this light chiffon gently hugs my curvier frame. Not only is this dress flattering, but it is also incredibly easy to style. The first picture was taken in London’s covent garden. I styled the dress with my beaten converses, dark wash jacket and an elephant necklace from Saint Tropez (I’m holding a bowl of Ben’s cookies and ice cream–and yes, it’s amazing! :P). In the picture below, the vibe of the dress changes from London’s more eccentric vibe to a very Parisian femininity. Once a cashmere sweater is added, and the hair is tied up, the dress gains a whole new ballerina-esque life. No matter your style or travel destination , an lbd–in a light, floaty material will conform to any vibe you desire.
